A few nice funny food images I found:
....continued from the last photo: t his particular weight loss plan had me following a specific formula each day...3 main meals, and 3 snacks. Perfect...NEVER ever hungry! I did want to follow the instructions correctly, and found index cards on my frig helped me not stray off the course. Cute magnets and a funny note card of a cat with salad greens in its mouth make me feel happy and up lifted each day.
No doubt that one of the main reasons we were excited about visiting Hong Kong was the food. While it did not disappoint, it did illustrate that there's not such a huge step up from Melbourne food as you might expect. We often found ourselves looking at menus that were very much like our own favourite chinese food haunts back home. If you looked beyond your favourite dishes, however, there was another whole tier of flavour and texture that is very rare back home. Take this dish of deep fried prawns as an example - I can't even remember what the garnish, but it was hot and exceptional. We were told we had to eat the shells - something I just don't think many Melbourne restaurants would try, but when in Rome... and it was delicious! Truly a culinary highlight of the trip. Of course, eating in a setting like this helps! Fans of Masterchef Australia might remember the episode in Hong Kong where Julie won the challenge to reproduce the 'famous' Rainbow Fish dish. Well, the Rainbow Seafood restaurant was just a few doors along and in the background of this pic is the floating fishing village where the episode was filmed. Funnily enough, while we were looking at the Rainbow menu the young man was doing his best to get us seated, so we told him that his restaurant was famous, that we had seen it on Australian television... he didn't know anything about it and I don't think he believed us. Still, definitely the right place, funny eh?
